PROMPT is an acronym for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets, a programme which is designed to help individuals with speech disorders gain voluntary control of their motor-speech systems.
A key technique is the use of tactile- kinesthetic articulatory prompts (cues) on the jaw, face and under the chin. The therapist helps to manually guide the individual to produce specific sounds or words that seem to be problematic.
