Guanfacine
Guanfacine is a type of drug called an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used to treat high blood pressure. It is sold under a variety of brand names including Intuniv and Tenex.
It works by decreasing the heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body.
Some researchers believe that guanfacine could be used as an alternative to stimulant drugs among children with developmental disabilities, including autism.
