Robots
A robot is a mechanical device that sometimes resembles a human and is capable of performing a variety of often complex human tasks on command or by being programmed in advance.
Some people believe that robots can be used to help people on the autism spectrum, for example, by teaching them how to undertake simple tasks.
There are several different robots which have been designed to help people on the autism spectrum including:
- FACE: robot designed to show basic emotional states such as happines and sadness
- KASPAR: child-sized robot designed for use as a social mediator
- PABI: robot designed to interact meaningfully with an autistic child
- Robota: the name of a series of doll-shaped mini-humanoid robots.
